Information for Families

Home-Start provide support and help to families who have at least one child under 5 years of age. There is no charge for having a volunteer come and visit you. Our aim is to help families irrespective of their own situation.

The length of time that volunteers will stay with the family depends on their needs and what our volunteer is able to offer.

Home-Start Merthyr Tydfil would like to stress that all information provided to us from families is highly and strictly confidential. Home-Start keeps confidential files on families, which families are welcome to see at any time.

Most of our referrals come from Social Services, from Health Visitors or other professionals, but referrals can come from concerned relatives or friends or from the families themselves.
